John Jay Kreischer, Jr., 60, of Montpelier passed away Tuesday afternoon at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born on February 7, 1959 in Montpelier to John Jay and Frances Lucille (Smith) Kreischer, Sr. John graduated from Montpelier in 1977. He married Linda Lou Hazlet and she preceded him in death.
John was a member of the Montpelier Eagles. He was currently employed by Chase Brass and Copper in Holiday City, for nearly 40 years in the casting department. John was a die-hard Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals and Boston Red Socks fan.
He is survived by his children, John “Jay” Kreischer, III of Bryan, Rhonda J. Bailey of Montpelier and Ryan Bagley; fifteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren; siblings Carroll (Patricia) Kreischer of Montpelier, Darlene Haynes of Montpelier, and Patti (Mickey) Oyer of Montpelier; Special friend Paula Anderson; and special dog Esther Starr.
John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda and several other family members.
Visitation for John will be on Monday, July 1st from 1-7pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. Services will be on Tuesday at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Benaiah Harris to officiate. John will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Memorial contributions may be given to the Williams County Humane Society.
