B. Irene Baker, 101, of Montpelier passed away Friday morning at Hillside Country Living in rural Bryan.  She was born on August 12, 1913 in Pewamo, Michigan to Benjamin Franklin and Gladys (Childs) Abbott.  On July 14, 1932 she married W. Eugene Baker in Hillsdale, Michigan and he preceded her in death on July 9, 2000. In 1976 Irene retired from A&P Grocery as a cashier after 27 years. She is survived by one brother Kenneth (Alice) Abbott of Galesburg, Michigan; two sisters, Arlene Morckel of Mesa, Arizona and Valeda Clare of San Angelo, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, two brothers Bud and Floyd Abbott, and one sister Helen Baker. Visitation for Irene will be on Tuesday, March 3rd from 4-6pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier.  Donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice.  Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier.
