Bill Dane Bushong, 61 of Calhoun, GA and formerly of Pioneer, Ohio and Bryan, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 5th at Gordon Hospital in Calhoun.
Bill was born January 12th 1951 in Morenci, Michigan, the son of Lowell "Bud" Reed Bushong and the late Betty Marie (Caulkins) Bushong of Pioneer, Ohio. Bill graduated from North Central High School in Pioneer in 1969 and worked for Challenge Cook in Bryan until transferred to what was then their new operation in Calhoun. Bill had worked as plant manager for several companies in the following years and was employed as plant manager at One Source in Dalton, GA at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years Joyce (Henry) Bushong of Calhoun, formerly of Pioneer, his father Lowell R. Bushong of Bryan, Ohio, a son Ben Bushong (and wife Missy) of Cumming, GA, one daughter Erin (Bushong) Chancey (and husband Matt) currently stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, two sisters Sandra Rupp (James) of Pioneer, and Sharon Burrows (Bill) of Port Huron, MI, four grandchildren, Bryson and Brody Bushong, Morgan and Ryan Chancey, mother in law Marcella Henry of Pioneer and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held at the Thomas Funeral Home in Calhoun on April 10th 2012.
A second memorial service will take place at the Pioneer Community Center in Pioneer on Saturday, April 14th at 2 pm with Nelson Rupp to officiate. The family will receive friends and family from 1 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer is in charge of the local arrangements.
