Obituary

Boyd Clark, Jr. 91, of Bryan, died early Friday morning at his home.  He had been in declining health in recent months.  The son of Boyd and Myrtle Friedel Clark, Boyd was born October 11, 1920, in Bryan, Ohio.    He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1939.  Following graduation he was employed at W. C. Heller Company and at Clark Brothers Canning Company until he enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1941 where he served until his honorable discharge in 1945.   During Boyd's military service he was an airplane and engine mechanic and airplane crew chief. Boyd married the love of his life Arlene Witzerman on September 27, 1942, in Gulf Port, Mississippi.  They celebrated 65 years of marriage until her death on April 6, 2008. Following Boyd's military service, he owned the Point Service Station (currently St. John's Tire) for seven years, until he began his career in Management at Donaldson Ford, John Melton Ford, and Tom Sheridan Ford, retiring on May 1, 1983. Following retirement, Boyd began focusing on his game of golf.  He was an excellent golfer and was a long standing member of Orchard Hills Country Club where he won the President's Cup in 1967.  In his scrapbook he noted "1967 The Great Year."  He later joined Hillcrest Country Club where he served on the Board of Directors from 1982 to 1987 and was the President of the Board in 1987. He made many good friends during his years of golfing. Boyd was an active member of the Bryan Kiwanis Club for many years, was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as usher, was a life member of the Charles E. Arnold, American Legion Auxillary, and worked at the Williams County Elections Board as Precinct Judge and poll worker for over thirty years. Boyd enjoyed woodworking, fixing anything that didn't work quite right, physically built his first home on the Witzerman property (currently Millers Music) on West High Street in Bryan, tended to his annual garden where he grew a huge tomato crop and, and each Christmas  he made multiple batches of the best fudge that he would deliver to family and friends. Boyd and Arlene enjoyed many family vacations to destinations such as Florida, Hawaii, the Canary Islands, and Aruba. Boyd is survived by his daughters Sharon R (John W.) Keller, Bryan, and Lana K. (Kevin) Tucholski, Maumee, three grandchildren, Andrew T. (Heather) Tucholski, Perrysburg, Nicholas A. (Megan) Tucholski, Toledo, and Audrey K. Tucholski, Columbus, and his great grandson Reece Tucholski, born  June 17, 2012, who brought him so much joy in a few short weeks.    He is also survived by four brothers, Richard (Violet) Clark, Montpelier,  Byron Clark, Montpelier, Ronald (Mary Ellen) Clark, Bryan, and Rev. Harold (Betty) Clark, Grover Hill, OH, and his sister Marjorie (Carl) Bowers, West Unity. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Arlene, his granddaughter, Kathleen (KK) Keller on October 10, 2006, his brother Raymond Clark and sister Phyllis Clark. Memorial Services for Boyd Clark, Jr. will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Bryan, OH, with Pastor Mary-Beth Smith Gunn officiating.  The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home, Montpelier, from 2-8 on Tuesday August 21, 2012.  Boyd will be interred beside his beloved wife and granddaughter in Fountain Grove Cemetery following the service. Preferred memorials are to the Hospital Home Health and Hospice, Bryan, OH.
