CHARLES F. STEMEN, JR. 1932 – 2011 Charles F. Stemen, Jr., 78, of Montpelier, Ohio died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio. He was born August 24, 1932 near Montpelier the son of Charles Fay and Thelma Faye (Harrington) Stemen, Sr.. On July 2, 1955 was married to Joanne (Hornyak) and she survives. Charles was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, and was a long time Life Member of Bryan, Ohio Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2489. He had retired in 1992 as a foreman with Mohawk Tools, Inc. of Montpelier where he had been employed for 40 years. Charles was an avid fan of his grandsons sports activities, and fisherman, bowler, and golfer, and enjoyed leisure time at the family lake cottage. Also surviving are two sons, Randy Stemen, Montpelier, and Gregory (Anne) Stemen, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Two daughters, Lorene Stemen, Columbia City, Indiana, and Julie (Terry) Sargent, Montpelier,. Three grandchildren, Latasha (Jamie) Hart, and, Daniel Stemen, both of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Jared Sargent, Montpelier. Three great grandchildren, Jessie, Cody and Lily Hart. Two brothers, Lee (Mae) Stemen, Bryan, and Harold (Joyce) Stemen, Montpelier. A sister, Alice Rath, Ney, Ohio. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Roger and Stanley K. Stemen and sisters, Phyllis Davis and Helen Hugg. Visitation for Charles F. Stemen, Jr. will be Friday March 25, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier. Funeral services will be in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 26, 2011 with Pastor Brock Rohrer officiating. Burial will be in Shiffler Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites conducted by Bryan V.F.W. Post #2489. Preferred memorials are to the Montpelier Public Library.
