Obituary

Charlotte L. Heller, 89 years old, mercifully passed away Thursday, January 5th 2012 at the Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bryan, where she had been a resident.  She fought Alzheimer's disease courageously over the past year. Charlotte was born March 22, 1922 in Green Point, New York, the daughter of Ferdinand & Lillian (Wersher) Dietz.  On September 25th 1955 she married Harold R. Heller in Bryan, Ohio. Charlotte worked for several large companies in downtown New York before moving to Bryan.  She was employed by the Aro Corporation and the Isaac Tire Company both of Bryan before retiring to be home with her family.   She enjoyed hosting many poolside parties, was an avid reader, a seamstress and loved to dance. Charlotte was a past president of the Bryan American Legion Auxiliary and a past senior regent of Chapter #618, Bryan Loyal Order of the Moose. She is survived by her husband Harold in Bryan, two daughters Linda (Larry) Lundervold of Grass Valley, CA, Christine (Jerry) Englehardt of Allen, MI, one son Michael (Sharon) Heller of Westerville, OH, three grandchildren Christine Zwerling, Cameron Heller and Jessica Carpenter, three great grandchildren, two sisters Lillian Magaster of Ledgewood, New Jersey, Patricia Dietz of Bryan, Ohio, one brother John Dietz of Brooklyn, New York. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Howard Dietz. A private graveside service will be held at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer at a later date.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are requested to consider the Alzheimer's Association, 2500 North Reynolds Road, Toledo, Ohio 43615.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier. Charlotte requested the following prayer: "Open My Eyes" God open my eyes so I may see, And feel Your presence close to me… Give me strength for my stumbling feet, As I battle the crowd on life's busy street, And widen the vision of my unseeing eyes, So in passing faces I'll recognize, Not just a stranger, unloved and unknown, But a friend with a heart that is much like my own…. Give me perception to make me aware, That scattered profusely on life's thoroughfare, Are the best GIFTS of GOD that we daily pass by, As we look at the world with an UNSEEING EYE. –Helen Steiner Rice
