Christine "Teenie" (Hug) Bauer, 94, of Cooney died early Monday morning at home. She had been surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild for days prior to God taking her into his loving arms. Mrs. Bauer was born in Ashtabula County on March 5th 1918 to Paul E. and Sylvia E. (Brandon) Hug. She had been a Williams County resident since 1924. A High School graduate, she married Kenneth E. Bauer, a life-long resident of Williams County on April 23rd 1940.
Christine was a homemaker. She had a great love for taking care of not only her own children and grandchildren, but also many other children in the surrounding community of Cooney. Mrs. Bauer was an active member of the Northwest Grange for many years, the Farm Bureau and Homemakers.
Mrs. Bauer is survived by four sons: Gordon Lamar of Montpelier, OH; Dan Kenneth of Edon, OH; Rudy Franklin of Cooney, OH; and Marlin Kent of Cooney, OH. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren Diana Bauer-Grant of Waco, KY; Dawn Bauer of Archbold; Christopher Bauer of Montpelier; Mitchell Bauer of Cooney; Ashley Bauer of Montpelier; and Jason Bauer of Cooney; four great grandchildren: Justin & Jessica Grant and Allison Towne & Brayden Bauer; two sisters: Eva McKelvey of Montpelier, and Eleanor Kokinda of Port Clinton, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth, two brothers Bernard, Nicholas, (infant), and 6 sisters Hildreth, Geraldine, Verdine, Pauline (infant), Hellene (infant), Gertrude (infant).
A Private Family visitation and graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 11th with Justin Grant to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. A celebration of Christine's life will follow the graveside service at Cooney Community Center at 3:30 pm on Wednesday. Donations may be made to Hospice, Meals on Wheels or The American Cancer Society.
