Dennis J. Zehr, 57 of Montpelier passed away Wednesday afternoon at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio where he had been a patient. Dennis was born November 17, 1954 in Bryan, Ohio to Rolland J. and Betty J. (Albertson) Zehr. Dennis graduated from Montpelier High School in 1974 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy shortly after graduation. He reached the rank of E-2 while serving in the Vietnam War. Dennis was employed at SPX – Robinair in Montpelier for approximately 15 years until its closing. He was a member of the Grace Community Church in Bryan. He was also a life member of the American Legion in Montpelier. Dennis is survived by his mother Betty J. Zehr of Montpelier; one brother: Tom J. Zehr of Akron, Ohio; three sisters: Shirley (Randy) Starr of Red Lion, Pennsylvania; Pam (Myron) Schaadt of Auburn, Indiana and Shelley (Steve) Jackson of Reading, Michigan; 8 nieces and nephews and 9 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one great niece: Cassie Starr. A public graveside service will be held Saturday June 23,  2012 at Riverside Cemetery. Reverend Michael Kelly and Reverend Sam Byroads will officiate at the 11:00 a.m. service. Graveside military rites will be performed by the Montpelier Veterans. Preferred memorials are to the Grace Community Church. Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier is in charge of arrangements.
