Dorothy D. Thies, 86, of Montpelier and formerly of Houghton Lake, Michigan, died Wednesday morning at her home.  She was born on April 29, 1927 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Charles B. and Nora (Powell) Hurn.  Dorothy married Walter Thies on April 20, 1963 in Roseville, Michigan and he preceded her in death in 1984. Dorothy retired from Ford Motor Car in Detroit, Michigan, as an office worker.  She was a member of the Red Hatter Society. She is survived by three children, Charlene Kelly of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, Carolyn Hutchinson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Michael Thies of Montverde, Florida; one sister, Joyce Lee Hurn Piper; nine grandchildren, one of which is Robert L. and Tammy Duchene of Montpelier; fifteen great grandchildren, Kelly L., Wendy L., Jessy M. and Christy A. Duchene, John, Karen, Jennifer and Brian Hutchinson, Janos and Jeremia Thies, Kim Goetterman and Dale Emmons. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, and two brothers Charles B. Hurn and Chester Hurn. Visitation hours for Dorothy will be Saturday August 3rd after 2pm at the Wilson Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier.  A funeral service will be held at 5:30pm with Deacon Dennis C. Jackson to officiate.  Donations may be made to Visiting Nurses and Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties.
