Obituary

Druzilla "Dru" Byall passed away Monday afternoon, July 30, 2012, at Hillside Country Living in Bryan at age 102. Mrs. Byall was born April 17, 1910 in Paulding County to Charles and Lydia Brown. Her family moved to Fort Wayne when Dru was a teenager, and she attended high school in Fort Wayne. In 1937 she married Richard Byall, also of Fort Wayne, and they raised five children. In 1950 the family moved to Montpelier, Ohio where Richard was employed by the Wabash Railroad and where the children graduated high school. Richard passed away in 1996 at the age of 83, and Dru lived on in the family home until the age of 98 when she moved to Hillside Country Living. Asked by the Bryan Times last April which of her many years she liked best, she said, "There were a lot of good years raising my kids." She was most proud of the fact that all five of her children graduated from college. Mrs. Byall was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Byall Schnuck of Augusta, Georgia. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Scott of Augusta, Ga. and by three sons, David, of Lancaster, Ky, Paul, of Savannah, Ga and Jack, of Murrells Inlet, S.C. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hillside Country Living for the kind and loving care they provided our mother during her stay. Services will be held Thursday, August 2, at 1:00 at the First United Methodist Church of Montpelier, officiated by Rev. Robert Damschroder. The family will receive guests prior to the ceremony from 11:00 to 1:00. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends and acquaintances make a donation to Hillside Country Living, 09876 County Rd. 16, Bryan, Ohio.
