EDGAR R. DIXON
Edgar R. Dixon, 81, of rural Montpelier, died unexpectedly Monday, May 9, 2011 at Community Hospital and Wellness Center, Bryan.
He was born July 18, 1929 at Van Wert, Ohio, to Edgar R. Mary (Welch) Dixon, Sr. On September 3, 1949 he was married to Birdena M. (Frisbie), and they had celebrated their 61st anniversary.
Edgar was a devout Christian and God fearing man of deep faith.
He was employed for 32 years as a switchman with first the former Wabash railroad which then became the Norfolk & Southern, retiring in 1990.
Surviving is his wife Birdena, two sons, Bill Dixon and special friend Jon Saltzgiber, Lapeer, Michigan, James (Betsy) Dixon, West Unity; six daughters, Marlene Day and special friend Frank Vasquez, Bryan, Jeanne Grant and special friend Jeff Bodle, Decatur, Indiana, Tina (Harry) Bunnell, Montpelier, Connie (Mike) Pociech, Fremont, Indiana, Jody (Jeff) Rawlins, Bryan, Beth (Don) Rediger, Montpelier, 17 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were, one son, Roy Lee Dixon, infant grandson, Neil Schafer, Jr., a brother Francis Dixon and a sister, Goldie Thomas.
Visitation for Edgar R. Dixon will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, 335 Empire Street, Montpelier, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday May 13th, 2011 in the funeral home with Reverend Robert Damschroder officiating. Burial will be in Floral Grove Cemetery, Pioneer, Ohio. Preferred memorials are to the Pacific Garden Mission, Chicago, Illinois or Williams County EMS.
