Obituary

Edward G. Chapin, Sr. 61 of Osseo, Michigan died early Tuesday Morning at his home.  Ed was born on August 25th 1949 in Hudson, Michigan to Clair B. & Dorothy A. (Britton) Chapin. Ed graduated from Pittsford, Michigan High School in 1967.  Soon after graduation he was hired on the Wabash Railroad.   Ed stayed with the railroad working out of Montpelier as it changed to the Norfolk & Western and then Norfolk & Southern having perfect attendance for approximately 41 years until he retired in 2009 as a Carman.  Ed was also an avid woodworker and bird watcher. Surviving is his mother Dorothy A. Chapin of Osseo, MI, three sons Edward & Connie Chapin, Jr. of Osseo, MI, Nate Chapin of Detroit, MI, Tyler & Annette Chapin of Edon, Ohio, three grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, 12 step great grandchildren, one sister Patsy & Gerald Coler of Pioneer and one brother Tom & Sheila Chapin of Harrisburg, OR. Ed was preceded in death by his father and wife Shirley M. (Coler) Chapin in February of 2010. Services for Ed will be on Thursday, July 14th at 3pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer.  Visitation hours will be from 1pm until the time of the service with Minister Nathan Derico to officiate.  Donations can be made to the Hospice of Hillsdale County or the American Lung Association.  Online condolences can be made at thethompsonfuneralhome.com
