Obituary

EDWARD C. "ED" GOEBEL Edward C. "Ed" Goebel, 84 of Montpelier, Ohio and a former Edgerton resident, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 25, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 13, 1927, in St. Joseph Township, Williams County, to Norbert and Victoria (Stark) Goebel. On June 7, 1952 he was married to Ruth M. Long in Edgerton and she preceded him in death on August 31, 2008. .Ed was a devoted and loving family man, talented in carpentry. He worked earlier in life at Lutterbein Lumber Company in Edgerton, Bryan Metals, and was a self employed carpenter. He was a lifelong farmer until his retirement in 1996, when he and Ruth relocated to Montpelier. Ed was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Edgerton, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Montpelier. Surviving are three daughters, Sandy Wolf, and Deanna (Tom) Worthington, both of Montpelier, and Karen Goebel (and significant other Jeff Parker), Kendallville, Indiana. Five grandchildren, Joby Fritsch, Montpelier, Janel (Casey) Adams, Martinsburg, West Virginia, Lori (Shawn) Eitniear, and Kelly (Wayne) Rummel, both of Montpelier, Levi (Jenny) Brehm, Castletown, Indiana.. Six great grandchildren, Kennedy Fritsch, Madaline, Brandon, Dylan, and Trenton Eitniear, and Evan Rummel, all of Montpelier. Five sisters, Alice Denny, Laura Klein, Rita Jackson, all of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Hilda Green, Glendale, Arizona, and Millie (Charles) Denny, Columbis City, Indiana, brother Clair (Laverne) Goebel, Edgerton. Also preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Cletus, Niel, Maurice, and Basil Goebel, and sister Muriel Hug. Visitation for Ed Goebel will be after 10:00 a.m. Saturday May 28, 2011, in Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, 335 Empire Street, Montpelier, Ohio, until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, with Fr. James Halleron officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier. Preferred memorials are to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
