Eva Blanch (Hug) McKelvey
Montpelier- Eva B. McKelvey, 89 of Montpelier died August 4th 2012 at the Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. McKelvey was born in Ashtabula County on December 14th 1922 to Paul C. and Sylvia E. (Brandon) Hug. She had been a Williams County resident since 1924. She was a 1940 Montpelier High School graduate. After graduation she married Eldon Lavon McKelvey on June 7th 1941.
Eva was a hard working farmer's wife until they moved into Montpelier in 1955 and she began working at Bergman Grocery Store, later named the Montpelier Locker. After the closing of the Montpelier locker she worked for Cobb's Ace Hardware also in Montpelier.
Eva belonged to the Sodom Grange for many years, a Chit Chat Homemakers Club and the Top Club. Eva was also very active at the Montpelier Senior Center.
Eva is survived by a son Walter "Buck" McKelvey and wife Delphia of Montpelier, a daughter Alice Faye Retcher and husband Herbert of Ney Ohio, five grandchildren Angela Manuszak and husband Terrence, Cheryl Lemmon and husband Dennis, Errick Retcher and wife Anne, Sheila McGill and husband Matthew, Mathew Retcher and wife Candi, step granddaughter Heather Hammermeister and husband Todd, twelve great grandchildren Samuel, Tessa, Cara Manuszak, Ellie, Levi, Sarah Lemmon, Ethan, Marissa Retcher, Rhett and Hoyt McGill, Chyanne, and Brody Retcher, three step great-grandchildren T.J. and Chad Hammermeister and Jordan Stoy; a sister Eleanor Kokinda of Port Clinton, Ohio, and a sister in-law Rachel McKelvey of Montpelier.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Bernard and Nicholas (infant) Hug, seven sisters Hildreth Hephner, Geraldine Bordner, Verdine Sokoloski, Christine Bauer, Pauline (infant), Hellene (infant) Gertrude (infant).
Visitation hours for Eva will be on Tuesday, August 7th from 2-8 pm at the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier. Services will be on Wednesday at 11 am at the funeral home with Reverend Ron Adkins to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier.
