Obituary

Gale N. Landon, 73 of Alvordton, died Sunday afternoon surround by his loving family and friends at the Community Hospitals and Wellness Center in Bryan.  Gale had been a resident of Alvordton for all of his life, being born in Millcreek Township on October 5th 1938 to Gaylord T. & Francis L. (Maneval) Landon.  Gale graduated from Alvordton High School in 1956 and then went into the US Army being stationed overseas in Italy. On June 7th 1958 Gale married Geraldine M. "Gerry" (Kaiser) in Kunkle, Ohio. In 1968 Gale and Gerry bought the Landon Homestead from his grandparents Nathan & Tura Landon and ever since has been a Millcreek Township farmer.  At one time Gale did deliver for the Pepsi Company in Bryan to the Williams & Fulton Counties for approximately 20 years.  In 2003 Gale retired as Superintendent from the Williams County Highway Department after 10 years of employment.  For over 30 years Gale was a farm implement salesman for various companies in the Williams and Fulton Counties.  Gale had also been the Mayor of Alvordton, Ohio as well as a Millcreek Township Trustee. Gale was a member and Past Master of the Montpelier Lodge F&AM #547, The Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio #45, Royal & Select Masons of Ohio, Bryan Council #101, St. George Commandery #076 Knights Templar, past patron of the Lillian Chapter #41 Order of the Eastern Star.  Gale was an officer of the Ohio Farmers Union and a member of West Franklin United Methodist Church in Fulton County.  Gale thoroughly enjoyed camping, fishing, going to casino's and being involved with farm related activities. Gale is survived by his wife of over 53 years Gerry, two sons Todd (Annie) Landon of Alvordton, Chad G. Landon of Alvordton, one daughter Melissa (Craig) Edwards of Bryan, four grandchildren Cole Landon, Logan Edwards, Lauren Edwards, Ashley Edwards, two great grandchildren Caleb McCavit and Kali Walz, two sisters Irene White of Montpelier, Amanda Carpenter of Bryan, one brother Duane Landon of Nashville, TN and several nieces and nephews. Gale was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Betsy J. Landon, Bernita Siders, Linda Castor and one niece Marilyn Studer. Visitation hours for Gale will be on Wednesday, January 25th from 2-8pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier.  A Masonic Service with an O.E.S. service to follow on Wednesday night at 8pm in the funeral home.  Services will be on Thursday at 1:30pm at the funeral home with Reverend Michael D. Raypholtz and Reverend James Stewart to officiate.  Interment will be at West Franklin Cemetery in Fulton County with military graveside rites by the West Unity Veterans.  Donations may be made to the Grand Chapter of Ohio O.E.S.
