GEORGE N. HAHN
1919 – 2011
George N. Hahn, 91, of Bryan, Ohio, died Saturday afternoon, July 30, 2011 at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center, Bryan, following a lingering illness.
He was born August 25, 1919, in Defiance County, Ohio to Elmer Franklin and Lesta H. (Neiswander) Hahn. On February 24, 1946 he was married to Reba P. Relyea, and she survives.
For a time in his early years he was employed on the Great Lakes coal hauler Steamship W. R. Reese. He then served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. A Montpelier/Bryan area resident since 1957, he was a Superior Township farmer until his retirement.
An active member of New Beginnings Church (formerly Central United Brethren Church), Montpelier, he had served as a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, President of the Men's Fellowship Association, an Elder, and as a Church Board member.
Surviving in addition to his wife Reba, is one son, John (Diana) Hahn, Blacklick, Ohio; one daughter, Nancy (David) Schairbaum, Bryan; five grandchildren, Jamie McFarland, Oxnard, California; Josh (Amy) Schairbaum, San Antonio, Texas; Kristina (Jason) Huff, Irving, Texas; Heather (Andy) Scheurer, Westerville, Ohio; Megan Schairbaum, Bryan;. One great granddaughter, Meghan Vredenburg, San Antonia, Texas. Two brothers, Elmer (Mary) Hahn, Jr., Edgerton, Ohio; and Nelson (Barbara) Hahn, Defiance, Ohio. Two sisters, Avyinell Lloyd, Holgate, Ohio; andVera Breckler, Farmer, Ohio.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Howard Mearl Hahn, and a sister, Mary Lloyd.
Visitation for George N. Hahn will be Wednesday August 3, 2011 from 2-8 p.m. in Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday August 4, 2011 in New Beginnings Church, 201 West Lawrence Street, Montpelier, Ohio, with Pastor Mike Martinelli officiating. A visitation also will be in the church one hour. prior to services. Burial will be in Shiffler Cemetery where graveside military rites will be conducted by Bryan V. F. W. Post # 2489. Suggested memorials are to New Beginnings Church or Hospice of Community Hospitals. Arrangements are by Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, 335 Empire Street, Montpelier, Ohio.
