Gerald A. "Jerry" Burkmire, 71 of Jonesville, Michigan died Wednesday morning at his son's home in Montpelier surrounded by his three children. Jerry was born on February 24th 1941 in Bryan, Ohio to Celestian A. and Lucille M. (Moog) Burkmire. Jerry graduated from Montpelier High School in 1959 and then went to work at Hayes-Albion in West Unity, Ohio. Jerry worked at Hayes-Albion for most of his adult working life and retired in 1996. Jerry was a former member of the Central U.B. Church in Montpelier and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Bryan. Jerry is survived by two daughters Angie (Riley) Bryan of Pueblo West, CO, Sheila (Rick) Winchell of Bryan, one son Rick A. Burkmire of Montpelier, four grandchildren Shilo Bryan, Riley Shane Bryan, Shawnee Bryan, Wyatt Winchell, one sister Joyce (Harold) Stemen of Montpelier, one half brother Jim Patten of Florida and a significant other Margaret Flowers of Jonesville, MI. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation hours for Jerry will be on Friday, March 30th from 4-7 pm at the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home on 335 Empire Street in Montpelier. A private graveside service will be held at Fountain Grove Cemetery in Bryan with Pastor Mike Martinelli to officiate. Donations may be made to the Williams County Humane Society or the Hospital Hospice.
