Glen John Ruetz, 81 of Montpelier died Saturday morning at his residence. Glen was born on August 4th 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to William J. and Edna (Eff) Ruetz. Glen's family moved to Montpelier in 1937. In 1950 Glen served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. On May 30th 1956 he married Marcena Clark and she preceded him in death. In 1992 he retired from the Norfolk and Southern Railroad after 22 years as a clerk.
Glen is survived by one son Jon (Dana) Ruetz three grandchildren Misty (Buffie) Beck of Montpelier, Jason (Luci) Ruetz of San Antonio, TX, Michelle (Brent) Fee of Bryan, six great grandchildren Brittanie, Kendra, Jordan, Abigail, Jaden, Evan, one brother Carl Ruetz of Temperance, MI, one sister Lucille Pitts of Bryan, special friend Linda Hammon of Montpelier, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marcena (Clark) on January 6th 2006, one son Timothy on May 24th 1977, seven brothers Donald, James, Walter, Wayne, Harold and Ronald Ruetz, three sisters an infant Dorothy M. Ruetz, Roseltha Wilson and June Ream.
Services for Glen will be on Friday, February 17th at 1pm at the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier with Pastor John E. Rumple to officiate. Visitation hours for Glen will be on Friday from 11 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier with military graveside rites by the Montpelier Veterans. Donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene.
