Grace M. Rininger, 95 of Camden, Michigan died Friday afternoon at Hillside Country Living in Bryan. She was born in Amboy Township, Hillsdale County, Michigan on January 22nd 1917 to Frantz S. and Pearl (Metcalf) Sommers. Grace married Rex J. Rininger on October 21st 1938 in Bryan, Ohio and he preceded her in death on August 8th 1982.
Grace graduated from Pioneer High School in 1934. She then attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI for two years, and later received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, MI. She taught for four years in several rural schools in Hillsdale County, and three and one-half years in Canon City, Colorado. In 1981 Grace retired after 19 years of employment from the North Central Schools in Pioneer and Kunkle, Ohio.
Grace joined the Amboy Methodist Church in 1931 and later became a very active member of the Pioneer United Methodist Church. Grace has always had an interest in Genealogy and was a former member of the Hillsdale County Genealogy Society. She is currently a member of the Williams County Genealogical Society, The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, and the Williams County Historical Society. She is also a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers and the Williams County Retired Teachers Association.
Grace is survived by a two sons Deane (Kelly) Rininger of Standardsville, VA, Leroy (Betty) Rininger of Camden, MI, one daughter Belinda (Charles) Campanella of Waldron, MI, nine grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and one sister Frances (Norman) Crow of Camden, MI.
She is preceded in death by her husband, one daughter Carol Masters, two son in-laws Richard Masters, David Livengood and two sisters Helen Grisier and Florence Munk
Visitation hours for Grace will be on Monday, January 30th from 2-8pm and on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the service at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer. Services will be on Tuesday at the funeral home at 11am with Reverend Michael Raypholtz to officiate. Interment will be at Lickley Cemetery in Wright Township, MI. Donations may be made to the Pioneer United Methodist Church.
