James L. Turney, 75, a longtime Montpeier, Ohio, resident, died early Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in the home of his daughter in Edon following a lingering illness. He was born June 4, 1936 at Montpelier, Ohio the son of Donald B. and Irene Amy (Disbro), and has been a lifelong Montpelier resident. Jim had retired in May, 2006, as a tool grinder from ARO Corporation, Bryan, where he had been employed for 49 years. Also, for many years he was co-owner and operator of JJD Tools, Inc. of Montpelier. For several years Jim served on the Montpelier Police Reserves. On December 10, 1988 he was married to Mary Jo Reed, and she preceded him in death on September 25, 2004. He was a member of Montpelier Eagles, Aerie #2246, and Montpelier Moose Lodge, #312. Surviving are two daughters, Crysthia (Ronnie) Green, Edon, Oho, and Tracy (Sarfraz) Rabbani, Garland, Texas. An adopted son, Joe Turney, Five grandchildren, Resma Rabbani, Sharena Martinez, Yasseur Rabbani, all of Garland, Texas, Aeriel (Steven) Hobeck, Edgerton, Ohio, and Trevor Green, Edon, Ohio and Three great grandchildren. Three step daughters, Laura Shockley, of Indiana, Janet Carnahan, Auburn, Indiana, and Brandi (Leroy) Grosjean, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Also a sister, Phyllis Turner, Temperance, Michigan survives.. Also preceding him in death were his parents, a brother Richard Turney, and brother-in-law Richard Turner. Visitation for James L. Turner will be Saturday, November 26, 2011 in Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier from noon to 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor John Rumple officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier. Suggested memorials are to Cancer Assistance of Williams County.
