Jennie Cummins, 77, of Montpelier passed away Monday at her home.  She was born on July 31, 1943 in Wauseon to Volney Powers and Elva May (Gonter) Sines.  Jennie graduated from Montpelier High School in 1961.  On January 7, 1962 she married Hubert H. Cummins at Silver Creek United Brethren Church in Pioneer and he survives.

Jennie was a lifetime member of the Silver Creek United Brethren Church.  For a brief time after High School, she worked as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell.  She earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Elementary Education with a certification in Special Education from Bowling Green State University.  For over 40 years Jennie taught in Elementary Education in the Williams County area.  The bulk of her teaching career was at North Central Schools in the Special Education, where she would eventually retire from.  In her spare time Jennie enjoyed reading, traveling, sewing and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Hubert; daughter Tandra A. Brown of Corunna, Indiana; grandson Colin Brown; brother John Sines of Tavares, Florida; brothers-in-law LaMar (Margie) Cummins of Bryan, James (Luna) Cummins of Columbus, Carmen (Ann) Cummins of Pioneer; and sister-in-law Nancy Sines of Winter Garden, Florida.  Jennie was preceded in death by her parents and brother Henry Sines.

Visitation for Jennie will be on Thursday, January 7th from 4-7pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier.  Services will be on Friday at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Steven Smith to officiate.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Silver Creek United Brethren Church.  Those wishing to attend services should wear a mask and follow the recommended social distancing guidelines.
