John C. Dancer, 73, of Montpelier passed away Thursday evening at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance.  He was born on September 18, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois to John L. and Helen (Zimmer) Dancer.  John graduated from Montpelier High School in 1958. John worked at Robinair as a foreman / supervisor in Montpelier for 36 years.  He had also worked at Plastec in Bryan and Dayton Walther in Dayton, Ohio.  John was an avid outdoors man; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He is survived by two daughters Christine Dancer of Bryan and Jennifer Dancer of Pioneer; three sons Kenneth (Monique) Dancer of Lillington, North Carolina, Dana (Trisha) Dancer of Fremont, Indiana, and Matthew (Cathie) Dancer of Bryan; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and companion Julie Palmer of Montpelier. John was preceded in death by two brothers Jim Howard and Bob Howard; and one sister Marge Cady. Visitation for John will be on Sunday November 3rd from 2-5pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier.  A memorial service will follow at 5pm at the funeral home with Pastor Ted Chalk to officiate.  A private interment will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery.  Donations may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
