JOHN W. LOWER 1941 - 2012 John W. Lower, 71, of Montpelier passed away January 16, 2011 at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center, Bryan. He was born January 12, 1941 near Hicksville, Ohio to Paul E. and Esther Pauline (Ridenour) Lower, and had been a Montpelier area resident most of his life. John was a 1959 graduate of Montpelier High School, and then served in the U S Navy 1962-65, having been stationed on the USS Plate. Following discharge he was employed for 12 years at Todd Shipyards in San Pedro, California. Upon returning to Montpelier he was employed 19 years with Sauder Manufacturing Company, Archbold, until retirement. He was married to Mae (Cue) in 1963, she is deceased. On September 29, 1993 he married Barbara Smith, and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2010. Surviving are five sons, Ted (Sandy) Lower, Montpelier, Wesley (Samantha) Lower, West Unity, Tod (Kathleen) Lower, Bryan, Cheyenne Lower (and special friend Jennifer Gearig), Atlantic, Iowa, and Russell (Jennifer) Lower, Atlantic, Iowa; Also a daughter, Sherry Lower, Wauseon, as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren. John and Barbara raised four grandchildren in their home: Fred Lower, Trymecia Ford, Destiny Lower and Billie Lower. Surviving also is a sister Phyllis (Leon) Pifer, Athens, Michigan. Memorial services for John Lower will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 23rd in Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier, with Reverend Joseph B. Redmond officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Morenci, Michigan. Visitation will be after Noon Monday in the funeral home, prior to services.
