JOY BETH MARTENIES Joy Beth Martenies, 37, of rural Montpelier died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in her home. She was born October 5, 1973 at Toledo, Ohio to and Eugene Valentine and Ruth M. (Watson) Kot and had been an area resident the past 16 years. Joy had graduated in 2007 from Northwest State Community College, receiving a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. On November 14, 1996, she was married to Rodney J. Martenies, and he survives. Also surviving are, a daughter, Brooke Martenies and a son Nikolas Martenies, both at home. Her mother Ruth M. Kot, Montpelier; Grandmother Mary Watson, Pioneer; Best friend and "sister" of 20 years, Theresa L. Winebernner and her sons, Wally and Sammy of Edon; Aunt, Irene Hiltman, Montpelier; Mother in law Lois Martenies, Antwerp, Ohio; and Special cousin Carrie Biollegas, Pioneer. Preceding her in death were her father, and also her sister and brother in law, Susan and George Ream. Following the Reams deaths, Joy raised their three children, Ashley (Ben) Brown, Aaron and Grace Ream who survive in Edgerton, Ohio. Cremation has taken place and a visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday May 2, 2011 in Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier, followed by a Memorial service at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Lowell E. Fast officiating. Preferred memorials are to the family.
