Laura M. Pirtle, 96 of rural Bryan, Ohio died Tuesday afternoon, May 24, 2011in Community Hospital and Wellness Center, Bryan, following a brief illness. Laura was born April 23, 1915 at North Baltimore, Ohio, to John and Nola (Copus) Swinehart. She had attended Mark Center High School and had been a Bryan area resident since 1958. A homemaker and farmer's wife, for over 10 years she also had served as a dental assistant for Dr. Norman Burns of Bryan. Laura was an avid gardener, was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bryan, and a very active member of the Altar Guild of the church; A 50 year member of the Williams County Home Demonstration Club; and, a member of the Bryan Women of the Moose for many years. In 1932 Laura was married to Raymond H. Luderman and he preceded her in death in 1962. In November 1966 she married R. Ivan Pirtle, and he preceded her in death in June 2003. Surviving are two sons, Robert (Jeannine) Luderman, Hicksville, Ohio, and Larry (Sally) Luderman. Grand Rapids, Michigan. Two daughters, Dorothy E. Michael, Bryan, and Carol (Jim) Boszor, Canton, Ohio. Eleven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. A special step-son, Eric J. Pirtle, St. Petersburg, Florida, several nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Judy (Bob) Rex, Bryan, and Ruth (Dave) Timbrook, Hicksville. Preceding her in death in addition to her husbands were a daughter, Bonnie Jean Conley in 1987, and one brother and three sisters. Visitation for Laura M. Pirtle will be Thursday May 26, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. in Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, 335 Empire Street, Montpelier, Ohio, and one hour prior to funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Friday. with Pastor David Proctor officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Cemetery. Preferred Memorials are to Bryan Senior Center or Trinity Lutheran Church.
