Obituary

Lena McCann, 91 of Montpelier died Saturday May 12, 2012 at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier. She was born January 8th 1921 in Everton, Missouri to James A. and Mary E. (Simmons) Bullock. She married Willie "Bill" McCann on June 19th 1937 in Brighton, Missouri. In 1956 Lena and Bill moved to the Montpelier area. Lena was a homemaker for most of her life. For a brief time she did work outside of the home as a waitress at Dot's Diner in Montpelier and Newberry Lunch Counter in Bryan. In the mid 1980's she and Bill retired and moved to Mesa, Arizona, until 2001 when Lena moved back to Montpelier to be closer to her daughter. Lena was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Montpelier and then later attended the River of Life Worship Center in Montpelier. Lena is survived by her son in-law Willard Brinegar of Montpelier, three grandchildren Brian Brinegar of East Palestine, Ohio, David (Robin) Brinegar of Fayette, Ohio, Laura (Carl, Jr.) Feeney of Defiance, Ohio, and four great grandchildren Caleb, Leah, Emily and Noah Brinegar. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill on October 19th 1996, daughter Beverly Brinegar on June 19th 2011, two brothers Tola Peters and Willie Burton Harper and two nieces. Services for Lena will be on Friday, May 25th at 1pm at the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier with Pastor Homer Miller and Reverend Bruce Tumblin to officiate. Visitation hours for Lena will be on Thursday from 4-8 pm and on Friday from 11 am -1 pm at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the River of Life Worship Center or St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
