Markelle Dawn Kandra died from a year-long battle of leiomyosarcoma on Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Markelle would say, "For I know the plans that I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" Jer. 29:11. Her faith and family were the guiding passion of her life. Markelle was born on March 12, 1970 in Montpelier Ohio. Daughter of Dolores Grice, she graduated from Montpelier High School in 1988. Markelle married the love of her life, Pete Kandra. She loved her sons Caleb (17) and Sam (11) and was committed to bringing them up to be men of God. She obtained her teaching degree at Western Governor's University in December of 2009. Markelle was passionately committed to the development of Fairfield Christian Academy's football program and athletic boosters. In lieu of flowers, Markelle has requested money to be given to the "Markelle Kandra Memorial fund". Please make checks payable to Fairfield Christian Church. The viewing will be held at Halteman-Fett-Dyer Funeral Home, 436 N. Broad Street, Lancaster, OH on Thursday, June 16 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. The funeral will be held at Fairfield Christian Church, 1965 N. Columbus Street, Lancaster at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011.  Graveside services will be Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 11:30 am at Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier Ohio.  Local arrangements by the Thompson Funeral Home.
