Obituary

Martin Luther Davis (1924 - 2011) Martin L. Davis, AKA Charles Ray , passed away on Wed Oct 12th at his daughters home in Foley, AL after a short illness.  He was 87.  He was born May 8th 1924 to the late Pearl (Gordan) and Aaron Davis in Dilo MS.   He grew up in Lumberton MS with his family.  Mr. Davis joined the Navy at 17 and served his country in WWII and the Korean war.   He married Pauline Eaton on Sept 16th 1947, and moved to Montpelier OH where he worked  on the railroad for Wabash.  Martin worked as a Conductor for 32 years when he retired in 1985.  He spent his remaining years back in his childhood home of Lumberton MS where he enjoyed old friends and family. Martin is remembered by many as a generous lord loving man.  He took care of his family and those around him unquestionably.   He was a patriot for his country and a avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 1 half brother, 4 step siblings, and his wife, Pauline.   He is survived by his three daughters: Melinda (Roger) Robison of Foley, AL, Carolyn (Larry) Davenport of Foley, AL, and Teresa Davis of Alabama, in addition to 6 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren who will all miss his guidance and kindness. There will be a graveside service on Monday, Oct 17th at 1:00 pm at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer, OH with Pastor John Rumple to officiate.  Graveside Military Rites by the Pioneer Veterans.  Donations can be made to Odyssey Healthcare Hospice in Mobile, AL.
