Melvin Earl Lashaway, 83, of Osseo, Michigan passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at Jackson's Hospice Home in Jackson, Michigan.  He was born November 20, 1939 in Wood County, Ohio to Earl and Fay (Hoffman) Lashaway.  Melvin married Nancy Lee Davis on July 27, 1957 and she preceded him in death on September 9, 2010.

Melvin attended Liberty High School.  He was a truck driver for many years.  He worked at Challenge Cook before becoming a corrections officer at Jackson Prison, then retired from the Adrian Correctional Facility.  Melvin loved Jersey Cows and showed them at the Hillsdale County Fair for over 50 years.  Farmer Mel also enjoyed listening to WCSR, a Hillsdale radio station, frequently requesting songs.

He is survived by his two sons Richard (Angie) Lashaway of Pioneer and Perry (Dona) Lashaway of Osseo; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grand children; and sister Connie Salisbury of Pioneer.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nancy and brothers Babe and Raymond Lashaway.

Visitation for Melvin will be on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 10am-2:30pm at the Pioneer Church of the Nazarene.  Services will be at 2:30pm with Pastor Kim Rupp to officiate.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in rural Camden.  Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society Team Tiffanie.
