Obituary

Merve E. Dick, 90, of Montpelier died Thursday at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier.  He was born on May 19, 1922 in Madison Township, Williams County, Ohio to Mervin E. and Mattie J. (Keller) Dick.  Merve graduated from Pioneer High School in 1940.  Merve served his country in the Army during World War II.  On June 24, 1948 Merve married Alice G. Barnhard at Clear Lake, Indiana. Merve retired in May of 1984 from Miller Brothers Paving of Archbold as a general laborer. Merve was a life member of the Pioneer American Legion Post #307 and VFW in Pioneer.  He was also a member of the Williams County Gun Club, Williams County Conservation Club, and Amateur Trap Shooter's Association. He is survived by his wife Alice, three sons Michael (Marie) Dick of Montpelier, Dave (Kathy) Dick of West Unity, Paul Dick of Camden, Michigan, two daughters Gloria (Dave) Osburn of Montpelier, Diana (Bill) Gendron of Pioneer, nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Lucille Zimmerman, one grandson Brian Gendron and one great granddaughter Maggie Yahraus. Visitation hours for Merve will be on Sunday September 30th from 2-7pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer.   A graveside service will be on Monday at 11am at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer, Ohio with Reverend Michael Raypholtz officiating.  Military rites will be conducted by the Pioneer Veterans.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Williams County Veterans Memorial Building.
