Obituary

Oscar W. Spieth, 102 of Pioneer died early Sunday morning July 24th at the Community Hospitals and Wellness Center in Bryan.   He was born on December 22, 1908 in Ney, Ohio to John & Emma (Bergman) Spieth.   Oscar was a 1927 graduate of Pioneer High School.  After graduation Oscar served his country by joining the US Army during WWII as a Medic.  He retired from Terry Trailers in Edgerton, Ohio in the early 1970's as a Leadman.  For many years Oscar was a self employed carpenter; Oscar built his last home when he was 97 years old.  Oscar was also a Bridgewater Township farmer. He is survived by one son Larry & Thelma Spieth of Pioneer, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and    one sister Millie Sanders of Oakland, CA. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ethel G. Reynolds in October of 1982, one daughter Joan Sakos in 2005, one grandson Joshua Spieth in 2008, one brother and seven sisters. A time to receive friends will be on Thursday, August 4th from 2-6pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer.  A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10am at the funeral home with Reverend Nick Woodall to officiate.  The interment will be at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer with Military Graveside rites by the Pioneer Veterans.  Donations can be made to the Williams County Veterans Memorial Building.  Online condolences can be done at thethompsonfuneralhome.com
