Obituary

RAY "PEVINE" ZUVER, JR. 1932 – 2012 Ray "Pevine" Zuver, Jr., 79, of rural Alvordton, Ohio, died Monday afternoon, February 6, 2012, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 11, 1932 at West Unity, Ohio, the son of Ray "Deke" Zuver Sr. and Merry M. (Grear) Zuver, and had been a lifelong Williams County resident. On August 30, 1952 he was married to Nina J Kosier, and she survives, Pevine had retired in 1987 as a shipping clerk at Scott Port-A-Fold of Archbold, where he had been employed for over 40 years. A talented leather craftsman, he also was widely known as an accomplished lead guitar player, having been associated with various area musicians. Over the years he had willingly shared his talents with many organizations and benefits. Of note is that he had provided monthly entertainment at the Montpelier Senior Center for over ten years. He was a member of both Montpelier Moose #312 and Montpelier Eagles Lodge #2246. Pevine was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the Pioneer V.F.W. Post. Also surviving are his children, Ray "Coon"Zuver, III (and friend Jen Favourtie), Alvordton, Gene R. "Bugs" Zuver (J.R. Kinard), Defiance, Cindy J. "Doc" Zuver, West Unity, and Melody R. Creek (John Rathke), Pioneer. Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Brothers, Maurice (Judy) Zuver, Osseo, Michigan and Ken (Linda) Zuver, West Unity. Two sisters, Viv Reed, Montpelier, and Janice (George) Beatty, West Unity. Preceding him in death were his parents, infant son, Allen Ray Zuver, and brothers Jack and infant Gary Zuver. Visitation for Ray "Pevine" Zuver, Jr. will be Friday, February 10th from 3 to 8 p.m. in Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m.Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Dan VanArsdalen officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier where Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by Pioneer Veterans Organizations. Preferred memorials are to the Zuver Family.
