RICHARD L. FETTERS
MONTPELIER --Richard L. Fetters, 84, of Montpelier, died late Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Hillside Country Living following a lingering illness.
Born August 7, 1926 at Edon, Ohio to Viola Gertrude Faber and James Russell Fetters, he was a Montpelier resident most of his life.
On July 25, 1953 he was married to Mary A. (Ansley) Word, and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2001.
A 1944 graduate of Edon High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific where he was wounded in battles at the Philippine island of Luzon.
Richard had retired from Mohawk Tools, Inc. of Montpelier in 1989 after over 34 years of service in various departments.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, V. F. W Post #944, American Legion Post #109, Williams County D.A.V., and Montpelier Masonic Lodge #547.
Surviving are two sons, Retired Sheriff Alan (Shela) Word, Montpelier, and Ric, (Valerie) Fetters, Bryan. Four grandchildren, Rich (Sherry) Word, Montpelier, Mindi (Craig) Weigle, Bryan, Scottie Jo Fetters (and fiancé Joe Hammon), Bryan, and Chelsey Nicole (Derek) Hamms, Hillsdale, Michigan. Seven Great Grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his brother Paul Fetters and sister Maxine Zuver.
be in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, where graveside military rites will be rendered by Montpelier Veterans Organizations. Preferred memorials are to Williams County Veterans Building, or the Church.
Visitation will be in Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Montpelier, with Pastor John H. Crilley officiating. Burial will
