Robert Allen Huffman, 78, of Pioneer, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Fulton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wauseon, Ohio. He was born on April 19, 1939 in Madison Township to Frederick and Velma (Esterline) Huffman. Bob graduated from Kunkle High School in 1957. On June 14, 1959 he married Janet M. Carter in Kunkle, Ohio and she survives. From a young age, Bob helped his family on the dairy farm and continued this livelihood until 1998. He was also a lifelong Madison Township grain farmer and was still driving the combine up until this past October. He was a member of the Williams County Soil Conservation Board, Williams County Dairy Association Board and was a volunteer for the Madison Township Fire Department. Bob served 8 years on the North Central School Board and was president of the board for one year. He and Janet enjoyed spending winters in Palmetto, FL for the past 20 years. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet Huffman of Pioneer; two children, Ronald A. Huffman of Pioneer and Cheryl Kaye Beck of Coldwater, Michigan; two grandchildren, Jamie (Patrick) Hassenauer of Wapakoneta, Ohio and Mallory (Dahlen Barnhart) Beck of Hillsdale, Michigan.; and one great grandchild, Logan A. Hiles. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Darold D. Huffman. Visitation for Bob will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. A funeral service will take place on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Diane Schaffner to officiate. Interment will follow at Shiffler Cemetery in rural Bryan. Donations may be made in Bob's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
