Obituary

ROBERT L. "BOB" REAMSNYDER. Robert L. "Bob" Reamsnyder, 86, of Montpelier died Sunday afternoon, September 26, 2010, at Bryan Care and Rehab Center following a brief serious illness. Born January 1, 1924 at Port Clinton, Ohio to Ruth Travis and Shirl F. Reamsnyder, was a Williams County resident most of his life and had attended Edon schools. On October 8, 1948 he was married to Thelma M. Strayer, and she preceded him in death on June 19, 2010. He was a lifelong Florence Township farmer, and had owned and operated Bob's Friendly Mobil Station in Montpelier. For a period spanning over 20 years Bob had driven school bus for Edon and Montpelier Schools. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served as one of the Board Members and founders of the Williams County Veterans Memorial Building, and remained active in the construction and completion of the edifice. Bob was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Montpelier, Edon American Legion Post #662, Williams County 40 & 8, and Montpelier Moose Lodge #312. Surviving are one son, Gary A. Reamsnyder, Panasoffkee, Florida and one daughter, Susan M. (Dale) Rockey, Montpelier. Three grandchildren, Jason (Patti) Rockey, Montpelier, Stacey (T J) Richardson, Nixa, Missouri, and Mandy (Jason) Jones, Newbury Park California. Five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Clifford "Skip" Reamsnyder. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Williams County Veterans Memorial Building at the Williams County Fairgrounds, with Reverend Robert Damschroder officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, where military graveside rites will be conducted by Edon American Legion Post #662. Preferred memorials are to First United Methodist Church, Montpelier or Williams County Veterans Memorial Building.
