Obituary

Roberta E. Shoup, 94 of Montpelier died early Thursday morning surrounded by her loving family at the Community Hospitals and Wellness Center in Bryan. She was born on July 15th 1917 in Florence Township in Williams County to Orley E. and Bertha B. (Funk) Zeigler. Roberta graduated from Edon High School in 1936. Roberta married Louis W. Shoup and together they raised their five children. She was also a sales clerk for Gorny-Winzeler in Montpelier and Bryan for over 20 years, retiring in 1982. Roberta was a member of the West Bethesda Presbyterian Church in rural Montpelier for over 75 years and was in the West Bethesda Women's Association Circle. She was a 50 year member of the Montpelier Grange. Roberta and her husband Louis were avid golfers, however Roberta's greatest love was family and being with her grandchildren. Roberta is survived by her four sons: L. Dean & wife Judith Shoup of Montpelier, Lyle and wife Sherry Shoup of Montpelier, Lynn K. Shoup of Reading, MI, Kim and wife Cindy Shoup of Montpelier, one daughter Mary Ellen and husband Estel Wyrick of Edon, OH, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis W. in February of 1993, a brother Chauncey "Bud" Zeigler, a granddaughter Pamela and two grandsons Matthew and Christopher. Visitation hours for Roberta will be on Sunday, June 17th from 2-8 pm at the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier and on Monday from 10-11 am at West Bethesda Presbyterian Church. Services will be on Monday at 11 am at West Bethesda Presbyterian Church in rural Montpelier with Reverend Tawee Layraman to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier.
