RUTH M. CHAMPION
1918 – 2011
Ruth M. Champion, 93, of Montpelier, passed away early Sunday morning June 19, 2011, in Evergreen Manor Care Center, Montpelier following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 20, 1918 at Bryan, Ohio to William C. and Alice (Moore) Repp, and was a lifelong Williams County resident.
On December 23, 1938 she was married to Frederic L. Champion and he preceded her in death in August, 1996. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bryan.
Ruth had retired 1983 as a press operator at Winzeler Stamping Company, Montpelier, where she had been employed for over 17 years.
Surviving are three son, Jim (Cindy) Champion, Waldron, Michigan, Steve (Diane) Champion, Montpelier, Roger (Darla) Champion, Montgomery, Michigan. Three daughters, Betty (Dennis) Banks, Montpelier, Rosemary (Bruce) Stockman, Bryan, and Brenda Icenhower, Madisonville, Tennessee. A daughter-in-law, Charlotte Champion, Jacksonville, Arkansas. Twenty grandchildren. Twenty-one great grandchildren, Three great-great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren. One brother, Charles Repp, Stockton, Kentucky and one sister, Edna Repp, Angola, Indiana.
Also preceding her in death was a son, Gary Champion, a daughter Judith Champion, Four brothers, Denver, Melvin, Elwyn, and Paul Repp. Four sisters, Alta Rosendaul, Jane Champion, Helen Manley, and Lena Shaffer.
Visitation for Ruth Champion will be Wednesday June 22, 2011 from 4- 7 p.m. in Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, 335 Empire Street, Montpelier, Ohio. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m.Thursday June 23, 2011 in First Baptist Church, Bryan, with Pastor John MacFarlane officiating. The family will receive friends after 10 a.m. in the church prior to services. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the First Baptist Church.
