RUTH N. SCHLEGEL Ruth N. Schlegel, 94, of Montpelier, died Wednesday afternoon at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home, Montpelier. following an extended illness. She was born October 18, 1916 at West Jefferson, near Montpelier to James T and Viola M. (Mann) Tressler. On December 18, 1936 she married Glenn C. Schlegel, and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1997. A lifelong Montpelier area resident, she was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Montpelier. She had faithfully served several years as an election day precinct poll worker. Ruth was a Life Member of the Montpelier Auxiliary of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, having served as it treasurer for many years. Surviving is her daughter, Constance Pritchard of Bryan; two grandsons, Steven (Kris) Pritchard, Montpelier, and Daniel Pritchard, Bryan; a sister, Irene Gabet of New Haven, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Marie Rhoades, and a brother George Tressler. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2011 in Wilson – Geesey Funeral Home, 335 Empire Street, Montpelier, with funeral services to follow in the funeral home at 12:00 noon with Reverend Bruce A. Tumblin officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier. Suggested memorials are to the Montpelier Auxiliary of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers or St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
