Shirley L. McGee, 77, a lifelong resident of Montpelier died Sunday at Defiance Regional Hospital. She was born on December 29th 1934 in Montpelier, Ohio to Seldon Lloyd and Imo Lulu (Gaskill) Mick. Shirley graduated from Montpelier High School in 1953. She retired from Beam-Stream in Monpelier in 1999 with over 20 years of employment. For a number of years Shirley worked at the City Laundry in Montpelier. She also babysat for many children over the years. During Shirley's working years she enjoyed being on a bowling league in Montpelier. Shirley had been a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Montpelier. Shirley is survived by a daughter Monica and husband Jon Rose of Defiance, Ohio, a grandson Trevor Hesselschwardt of Defiance, three brothers Larry Mick of Fayette, Ohio, Tom and wife Susan Mick of Montpelier, Richard and wife Linda Mick of Howard, Ohio, and one sister Joan and husband Gail Gordon of Montpelier. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers Lester, Charles, James, Harold, Roger, Lewis Mick, three sisters Dora Jane Hepker, Lucile (Janette) Lamb, and Dolly Mae Crist. Services for Shirley will be on Friday, August 3th at 7 pm at the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier with Reverend Robert Damschoder to officiate. Visitation hours will be from 1-3 and 5-7 pm on Friday. A private family interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
