Susan J. Allgire, 65, of Montpelier, died Tuesday morning, March 1, 2011 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance after a brief battle with cancer.
Susan was born September 24, 1945 at Wauseon, Ohio the daughter of Allen F. and Jean (Allison) Johnson, Jr. On August 9, 1964 she was married to Relmond Allgire, and he survives.
A 1963 graduate of Camden – Frontier High School and a graduate of Bowling Green State University, Susan was an elementary teacher with Edon schools for 30 years, retiring in 1999 and after retirement continued as a substitute teacher with Edon schools.
She was a Past President and active member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter, Brenda (Alec) Hicks of Winder, Georgia, a son, Terry (Debbie) Allgire of Genoa, Ohio, and six grandchildren. Her father, Allen F. (Donna) Johnson, Jr., Coldwater, Michigan; mother Helen Johnson, Pueblo West, Colorado; one brother, Allen D. (Tina) Johnson, Hartford City, Indiana; three sisters, Mary Maxon, Guffey, Colorado, Debbie (Ron) Salkeld, Macomb, Michigan, and Joy Johnson, Pueblo West, Colorado.
Preceding her in death was her birth mother, Jean Allison Basher.
Visitation for Susan J, Allgire will be after 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Montpelier. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Donald Hicks and Reverend Bruce Tumblin officiating. Private family interment will be in Woodbridge Township Cemetery near Camden, Michigan.
