Obituary

Thelma Jo Walkup, 62, of Pioneer passed away Monday at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  She was born on August 10, 1953 in Brighton, Colorado to Paul and Lucille (Rippe) Pollay.  Thelma graduated from Newberg High School in Newberg, Oregon.  On October 13, 1972 she married Richard A. Walkup and he survives. Thelma was an EMS Technician, held her real estate license, drove bus for Montpelier Schools and retired from Dana Corporation in Archbold as a machine operator.  She was a member of South Woodbridge Pentecostal Church of God in Camden, Michigan.  Thelma loved to garden and shoot guns.  She truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Richard; three children, Ben Walkup of Pioneer, Sally (Paul) Paepke of Edon and Edward (Michelle) Walkup of Montpelier; nine grandchildren, Alyssa, Kimberly, Sonyja, Johanna, Cecilia, Andrea, Brandon, Reed and Samantha; three great grandchildren; three sisters Carol (Bill) Bachnoffer, Kathy (Darrold) Willis and Sharon (Wayne) Bleser all of the Portland, Oregon area; and best friends Laronda Leigh of Greeley, Colorado and Peggy Nickloy of Florida. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation for Thelma will be on Sunday, November 29th from 3-8pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer.  Services will be on Monday at 10am at the funeral home with Pastor Jimmie Hibbard to officiate.  Interment will follow at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer.  Memorial contributions may be made to S. Woodbridge Women's Charity Ministry Fund.
