Obituary

Wanda J. Mapes 68 of Montpelier died Thursday evening June 7, at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home where she had been at resident. Wanda was born January 30, l944 in Nobob, Kentucky to Thomas E. "Ed" and Wynema J. (Claywell) Jump. On June 18, l971, she married Donald C. Mapes and he preceded her in death on July 28, 2005. For many years Wanda worked as a waitress for various restaurants in the Montpelier area. Wanda was a member of the Montpelier Church of Christ. Wanda is survived by two sons: Joel (Yolanda) Summers of Montpelier; Doug (Ragna) Summers of Montpelier; one daughter: Gail (Tony) Hageman also; of Montpelier; five grandchildren: Kaleb, Anthony and Baylee Hageman; Madison and Will Summers; four stepchildren; seven step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren; one brother: Thomas (Pat) Jump of Glasgow, Kentucky; two sisters: Helen L. Forsyth of Glasgow, Kentucky and Willa (Gary) Sweeten of Pensicola, Florida. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation for Wanda will be held Sunday June 10th at the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier from 2 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Monday in the funeral home with Jeff E. Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Hospital-Hospice. Condolences may be sent online at wilsongeeseyfuneralhome.com
