KYU "Cho" Haldiman

Kyu “Cho” C. Haldiman, 69 of Montpelier passed away Monday afternoon at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan.  She was born on October 10, 1950 in Seoul, South Korea.  On January 11, 1982 she married her best friend and soulmate Harvey “Dennis” Haldiman in Montpelier and he survives. 

Cho studied Accounting at Northwest State Community College in Archbold.  She worked at Spangler Candy Company in Bryan for 11 years, was so productive that she broke through the incentive program.  She and her husband ran Haldiman Photography for 20 years, she also assisted her husband at Haldiman Inc. as Vice President and accountant until their retirement.  She came out of retirement and worked at Sauder’s Woodworking in Archbold for 2 years before going to DPI in Montpelier for 1 ½ years.

Cho had an infectious smile that would light up a room. Everyone around her would also smile because of her kind gestures, innocent laugh when she didn’t fully understand a joke, or the fact that she would remember every little important detail about a person that she had met before. Cho was best known as a servant to others. She was always giving of herself and did everything to make others’ days brighter. She was known for her “magic fingers” in the kitchen and laundry room. There was nothing she couldn’t make or bake, and no stain that she couldn’t conquer. Her famous zucchini bread, carrot cakes and cookies will be missed by many. 

She fiercely loved her family, and did everything to make sure they were taken care of at all times.  There wasn’t a grandchild that didn’t love her, and would all race to her for a big hug and constant spoiling while in her presence. She lived for serving them in one way or another, and was always proud of their accomplishments. She took great pride in watching them grow, being a part of what they did, and capturing those memories on film for them to remember. Her memories will forever be etched in their hearts. 

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Denny; daughter Christine (Cassidy Anderson) Haldiman-Brock of Cleveland; step daughters Kim (Dave) Daugherty of Angola, Indiana and Mandy (Doug) Hanna of Bryan; grandchildren, Renita, Shana, Orion and Aiwyn Brock, Gracen and Keaton Daugherty, and Piper and Finn Hanna; and two brothers and one sister in South Korea.

Cho was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and granddaughter Renautica Brock.

Cho will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier.  In lieu of donations the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Williams County Humane Society.
