Nathan Thompson

Funeral Director/Embalmer

Nathan is a third-generation funeral director/embalmer. He graduated from
Montpelier High School in 1992 and went on to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in
Occupational Therapy from Saginaw Valley State University in 1999. After
working in the field for 3 years, Nathan made the decision to enter the family
business and went on to graduate from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in
2002.

After completing school, Nathan and his wife Tasha moved back to Montpelier
where they have resided for the past 23 years with their 3 children, Addison,
Avery and Olivia. They are faithful members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in
Montpelier.

Since 2012, Nathan has served as a Village Council Member for the Village of
Montpelier and he has also been very involved with the Montpelier Rotary Club
for many years. In his free time, Nathan enjoys biking and walking the Iron Horse
River Trail.

Lauren (Burkett) Oxender

Licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer

Lauren is a second-generation funeral director/embalmer and began working with Thompson-Geesey Funeral Homes in January of 2013. She is a 2006 graduate of St. Ursula Academy in Toledo and a 2010 graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary
Science.
Lauren and her husband, Logan, a Pioneer native, live in Pioneer with their two sons, Carter and Colt. She and her family attend Kunkle United Brethren Church and in her free time, Lauren enjoys helping coach her son’s youth baseball teams and attending
their many sporting, social and family events.
She also helps throughout the community by volunteering on numerous boards. Lauren is the Vice President of the Montpelier Area Chamber of Commerce, the President of District 1 Funeral Directors Association, served two terms as a board member for the Ohio Funeral Director’s Association and is a presenter for the Master’s Training Seminars through OFDA.

Dail Fritsch

Funeral Attendant

Dail began working with the Thompson-Geesey Funeral Homes in January of 2021. He served as the Montpelier Fire Chief for 30 years and retired from the Montpelier Fire Department after 41 years of service. Dail and his wife Ann have been Montpelier residents for 61 years and are members of St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Montpelier.

Rich Shatzer

Funeral Attendant

Rich began working with Thompson-Geesey Funeral Homes in November of 2021. He retired as the Administrator for Williams County Ohio Department of Transportation in 2021, where he worked for 37 years. Rich currently serves as the School Resource Officer for Montpelier Exempted Village Schools and has served in law enforcement for
over 37 years. He and his wife Deb have been Williams County residents all of their lives.
